UPDATE: Victim, suspect in deadly Lompoc shooting are both prison guards

The Lompoc Police Department tells KSBY News that the suspect in a deadly shooting Thursday night in Lompoc is a correctional guard at Lompoc Penitentiary. The warden at the penitentiary says the victim worked at a correctional facility in Victorville.

Officers say they received a report that a shooting had taken place at the Embassy Suites Hotel on North H Street. Officers knocked on the door of the room where the shooting happened, but there was no answer. When they went inside, they found a man dead with one gunshot to the neck.

After investigating, officers arrested Timothy McNally, 33, on suspicion of homicide.

We're told the room at the hotel was reserved under the victim's name. McNally fled the scene after the shooting, the public information officer says.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Lompoc Police Department.
