LOS ANGELES (AP) The University of Southern California has selected the institution's second-in-command to take over as president in August.
USC officials said Thursday that Provost C.L. Max Nikias will succeed Steven B. Sample, who is retiring.
The selection of Nikias came after a search advisory committee met with 15 groups across campus, reviewed 75 candidates and interviewed seven finalists.
Nikias is a 19-year USC veteran and a former dean of its engineering school. He will become the university's 11th president.
