Vandenberg Air Force Base airman found dead at a home in Lompoc

Vandenberg Air Force Base says an airman assigned to the 30th Space Wing was found dead at a home in Lompoc Tuesday morning.

The Lompoc Police Department and emergency response teams confirmed that the airman was dead. The county coroner's office is investigating the cause of death.

"My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of this airman. Our focus now is to make sure that this airman's family and friends are taken care of and all resources are made available to those who wish to take advantage of them during this tough time," said Col. Keith Balts, the 30th Space Wing Commander.

The name of the person who died won't be released until 24 hours after next of kin is notified.
