Vandenberg Air Force Base looks back at 2010 and looks ahead in 2011.

The Lompoc Valley and Santa Maria Valley Chambers of Commerce held their annual joint luncheon on Friday at the base.

Colonel Richard Boltz, the Commander of the 30th Space Wing, talked about last year's accomplishments.

In 2010, there were ten launches.

Three of those launches took place within an eight day period.

Colonel Boltz says that hadn't been done in ten years and took a lot of effort.

Vandenberg also says there are eleven launches scheduled this year.

Lieutenant Ann Blodzinski, Vandenberg, said, "We are quickly jumping into the New Year. We have one of our historic events quickly starting out in January."

The first launch, A Delta IV launch vehicle, is scheduled for January 20th at around one in the afternoon.

It will be the largest rocket ever sent into space from the West Coast.
