Ventura County fire contained, mop up underway

FILLMORE, Calif. (AP) - Firefighters have fully contained the remnants of a wind-driven wildfire that burned two homes and threatened more than 100 others in rural Ventura County.

County fire spokesman Mike Lindbery says the fire that started Monday was fully contained by noon Tuesday. It burned a total of 148 acres.

The fast-moving fire began in a mobile home in Fillmore, forcing evacuations in the northern part of that city. Those orders have been lifted.

More than 400 firefighters worked overnight Monday and were helped by flagging winds.

About 160 firefighters continued mop up of the area, to make sure smoldering embers don't spark a new fire.

No injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.
