Verdict reached in trial of former Cal Poly assistant football coach

Randy Hanson, Cal Poly's former defensive backs coach, was found guilty Monday on charges of assault and battery.

Hanson was arrested in August of 2012 and accused of hitting another person over the head with a beer bottle at Harry's Night Club in Pismo Beach.

Hanson entered a not guilty plea last September. He resigned from his coaching job a few weeks prior.

On Monday, a jury found Hanson not guilty of an additional charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

His sentencing is set for June 10th. He faces four years in jail.
