The Board of Trustees at Cuesta College has voted to remove the school's vice president of academic affairs.
Cathleen Greiner was responsible for overseeing accreditation tasks up until February, when that job was handed over to Deborah Wulff, the dean of academic affairs. Now, the board has handed Greiner's entire job to Wulff, at least temporarily. She'll start a six month term July 1. Cuesta's president couldn't comment on the situation Thursday, but the school did confirm that Greiner is on paid administrative leave.
Cuesta College is currently on "show cause" status with the Accrediting Commission for Community Colleges. It has until October to address deficiencies or it's at risk of losing its accreditation status, along with federal and state funding. The loss of that money could eventually lead to closure.
