New information tonight on a man found dead Monday morning near a field in Nipomo.

Investigators have identified the man as 32-year-old Pedro Gonzalez. They say he lived in guadalupe and they believe someone murdered him. A driver found his body near a broccoli field owned by San Ysidro Farms.

The road is open but the investigation is still open-ended as detectives continue piecing together clues.

They say the man found dead on the side of the road Monday morning in Nipomo is 32-year-old Pedro Gonzalez of Guadalupe.

Workers from San Ysidro Farms discovered Gonzales on the shoulder of Bonita School Road--just south of Division Street. They told a supervisor who called 9-1-1

"He just immediately, you know, covered him up and then called, said Tracy McGinley, who works as an office manager for San Ysidro Farms

She says Gonzalez is not one of their workers. Detectives say he was murdered, but could not comment on Gonzalez's background or what killed him.

"Right now that's being withheld pending the autopsy that will be performed shortly," said Commander Brian Hascall with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department.

For those who did find the body, the image is tough to shake, but they returned to the fields.

"We're gonna deal with it and see how they do. It's just a tragic situation that happened out here. We haven't really had anything out here take place like that before. When it is dark out here, there's no lights, so not too many things go on in this area," McGinley said.

A quiet place now talking about a mysterious murder.

Detectives say they are looking into a possible connection at the Fairpark in Santa Maria, where a Valentine's Day concert was held sunday night.

Investigators say this is the first murder in San Luis Obispo County this year.
