The victim in Tuesday morning's hit-and-run on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara was the Junior Varsity baseball coach for Santa Barbara High School last year, according to Head Coach Fred Warrecker.

Warrecker said Simon Chavez, 22, was first tied to the school when he came in as a freshman. He says Chavez has helped the team in various roles in recent years.

Warrecker added there will be moments of silence before the girls' and boys' basketball games on Thursday and Friday in honor of Chavez.
