The female driver involved in an accident on Highway 154 has died at the hospital, according to a spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Emergency crews took 20 minutes to remove the victim from the wreckage.

The accident occurred a little before 2:30 p.m. on Highway 154, east of Lake Cachuma.

The call came in after a female driving eastbound on Highway 154 lost control of her Honda sedan and crossed over into westbound traffic and hit a big rig.

The highway was closed in both directions for about 30 minutes.

The driver of the big rig was uninjured, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
