A suspected child molester is found dead at his home in Nipomo. Sheriff's detectives discovered the body of 52-year-old Michael John Dominguez Wednesday morning inside a truck parked at his home. He was arrested Tuesday afternoon at an auto detail shop in Oceano. Tuesday night, he was released on bail.

"Always follow your instincts," the victim's step-mother said.

Those instincts helped end a nightmare for the family. The step mother found 52-year old Dominguez on the Megan's Law website. After two years of alleged abuse, her stepson came forward.

"The more questions I asked, the more I think he felt able to talk about it," the stepmom said.

Her 16-year-old stepson knew Dominguez through his auto detail shop in Oceano, where Dominguez was arrested Tuesday. Hours later, he was bailed out. Then detectives believe he went home and shot himself.

"This morning a gentleman drove by and said what's going on, I wondered and I said, I don't know, we never heard no noise or nothing," said Michael Brewer, a neighbor.

Now, the family is left sorting through the pain. They say Dominguez's death provides some closure, but it will be a long emotional road to recovery.

Sickening, disgusted, hurt, every emotion that a human being can feel, I'm feeling," the stepmom said.

And with all the questions running through her mind, she has only one question for her son's alleged abuser.

"How could you do this to a child? not only a child, my child, someone that I love."

Detectives believe there are other victims involved and are continuing to investigate.

The sheriff's office reminds people that the Megan's Law website is a valuable tool to find information about registered sex offenders in your area.
