Vodka largely reponsible for premature death among Russian men

A new study confirms that vodka consumption is a large cause of premature death among Russian men.

Researchers say a quarter of all Russian men die before the age of 55.

That percentage has fluctuated a lot along with alcohol laws and restrictions over the past 30 years.

The majority of early deaths are caused by alcohol poisoning, accidents, and suicide, as well as throat and liver cancer, pneumonia, and pancreatitis.
