People in San Luis Obispo helped put together care packages for troops in Afghanistan on Saturday.
Former marine, Si Tennenberg heads the effort to put together the packages.
PG&E donated money to his effort, and sent out several of their employees to help box the packages.
Volunteers put together dozens of care packages on Saturday alone.
"This means a lot to the troops," Marine Corps Sergeant Jose Briones said. "When I was out there in Afghanistan, receiving these boxes meant a lot. There's stuff in there that sometimes you cannot get. When I was out there, there were no stores, so actually receiving soap and things like food, it means a lot."
Tennenberg also gathers and sends letters to troops overseas.
Briones says the letters are especially supportive, and they keep the soldiers motivated.
