The Warriors continue to battle, but come up short after three days of Mission Prep's 14th annual Christmas Classic. The Righetti boys basketball team lost 59-49 to Marin Catholic in an Elite Division Bracket game on Friday afternoon.
The Warriors dropped to 0-3 at the Classic.
Sophomore sensation Cameron Walker led the Warriors with 24 points. He's averaging 25 points per contest in the tournament. Walker is among the many Division I recruits at this year's tournament. He's getting looks from UC Irvine, UCLA, Cal Poly, USC, Stanford and Harvard according to tournament officials.
6-4 junior Frankie Platero added 16 points for the Warriors.
The Warriors build an early 8 point lead in the game, but the Wildcats quickly took the lead for good. Nick Calcaterra hit a three from the corner at the buzzer to give Marin a 17-11 lead after the first quarter. It marked the third-straight game the Warriors were burned by a shot at the horn.
Calcaterra, a 6-2 senior guard, scored Marin's first 21 points of the game. He finished with 32 points. Calcaterra poured in 27 in Marin's 54-47 loss to Mission Prep. He averaged 2 points per game last season as a backup guard.
Righetti will try to end the tournament on a winning note on Saturday. The Warriors face Campbell Hall at 11:30 am.
