A documented gang member and wanted fugitive from Santa Maria is back behind bars after deputies found him hiding out in a Buellton cabin early Thursday morning.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says Arturo Renteria, 33, who had escaped from parole and has a history of narcotics sales, was found in a cabin at an R.V. park in the 100 block of Avenue of the Flags around 5:30 a.m. after the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Gang Enforcement Unit confirmed he was there.
Officials say some campers at the R.V. park were evacuated because authorities believed Renteria was armed and potentially dangerous.
About 15 minutes after the cabin where Renteria was believed to be was surrounded, officials say he surrendered.
His girlfriend, Krisanna Parke, 36, from Santa Maria also surrendered.
Officials say she was wanted for felony possession of a firearm and was on probation. She was arrested on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $35,000.
Renteria was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale and being a gang member in possession of a firearm. He is also facing charges of criminal street gang enhancement.
No bail has been set due to his parole hold.
