Stroke patients may improve their quality of life and physical health if they take a walk outside.
They often shy away from walking because they are afraid of falling, which forces them to withdraw from many social activities.
Researchers in Jamaica found patients who went for a brisk walk three times a week reported an improved quality of life. They could also walk longer and had a lower resting heart rate than patients who got a massage instead of walking.
Doctors say this is an easy, inexpensive way stroke patients can improve their life and their health.
