Come summer time students coming to Cal Poly will experience a different kind of orientation then they have in years past. Cal Poly's Week of Welcome will now include Explore SLO, an event where students will be taken in large groups to explore downtown San Luis Obispo.
In years past, more than 4,000 students and their WOW leaders would roam the streets of downtown San Luis Obispo during a single day, introducing students to their new community. Cal Poly believes that this new experience will help to include parents and families and introduce them to the downtown area in San Luis Obispo.
During the orientation summer program participants will be transported downtown in the afternoon and evening in two groups of about 500 people, exploring downtown from 12:00 p.m.-3 p.m. or 4-7 p.m. Participants will enjoy a meal, explore shopping and resources, and discover their new surroundings.
San Luis Obispo business owners will be offering exclusive discounts and special offers to all Soar participants.
