Jodi Fisher captured the hearts of people on the Central Coast and hearts nationwide when she crossed items off her "fun list," also known as a bucket list. Now, some college students want to continue her legacy at her alma mater, Cal Poly.
Jodi Fisher died in March from cancer. A group of Cal Poly students are raising money for her family and for a scholarship in her name. On Monday, a booth was set up at Cal Poly to sell t-shirts and gain support. The scholarship will support a student in the Recreation, Parks and Tourism Department at Cal Poly, and support Jodi's family.
The t-shirts read "What's on Your Fun List?"
"Basically we're trying to spread the word to Cal Poly. They haven't heard a lot about it, our department knows a lot about Jodi because she is a rec alum so we want to kind of tell Cal Poly and we have the whole rec department behind us." said Kayla Weaver, a Recreation major.
The Rec department hopes to have a booth every Monday somewhere on campus until the end of the quarter. More than 200 shirts were sold on Monday alone.
