The Good Question tonight is one that I hear often. It comes from Riley Mcinnis of Atascadero. She writes: Dave Hovde said on a broadcast that La Nina will be affecting our winter weather. What's the difference between la Nina and El Nino? I went straight to meteorologist Dave Hovde for the answer.

"Basically, it's like the difference between hot and cold water," said Hovde. "El Nino is when the sea surface temperatures are slightly warmer than normal, La Nina is when they are slightly cooler than normal. And it's important because it steers where storm systems go. In typical La Nina years it's less rainy than normal, El Ninos can be wet. But you can't just go by the term because last year was a La Nina and it was a wet one."

There's your answer from the man who knows. But I know you have a lot more questions so send them to ksby.com or better yet, friend me on facebook. The only bad question is the one you don't ask.
