Having a wild crowd hang around some Paso Robles wineries this past weekend proved profitable for one local charity.
Members of the 46 West Wineries hosted animals rescued and rehabilitated by the Zoo-to-You crew as an fundraiser for the group. Members of Zoo-to-You brought alligators, bald eagles, wolves and other animals to all 14 wineeries who participated. People paid $20 for a safari pass for free wine tastings at all the participating wineries and had tip jars out for people to pose for pictures like these with the animals.
Gary Stemper, owner of Eagle Crest Winery (which had a bald eagle hanging around) helped get this event going and says they were hoping to make $5000 this first year. But between the wine-tasting passes and tips, they brought in more than $78 hundred for Zoo to You. So now they're working to do a similar fundraiser with the wineries on the east side of highway 46.
