SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - A 50-acre wildfire has erupted near Interstate 15 in San Bernardino County amid windy conditions.

Authorities say the fire was reported at about 10:55 a.m. Monday near Devore in Cajon (kuh-HOHN) Pass.

The California Highway Patrol says several miles of Interstate 15 have been closed. Acting Sgt. Josh Buffum says winds are picking up in the area.

Southern California is under the influence of a Santa Ana wind event expected to bring gusts from 30 mph to 40 mph in mountain areas through early afternoon.
