LEBEC, Calif. (AP) - A wildfire burning in mountainous terrain is threatening about 20 structures about 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
Kern County Fire Department spokesman Sean Collins says
evacuations are in progress Tuesday afternoon in the Lebec area along Interstate 5, but the number of people involved is unclear.
Collins says the fire is burning west of the interstate and is being driven by wind and terrain.
The area is covered by grasses, some heavy vegetation and pinon pines.
Collins says temperatures are in the 100-degree range.
Lebec is one of several small communities along the interstate's route through Tejon Pass.
