Hundreds of residents will Walk With Us to Cure Lupus this weekend.

The Alliance for Lupus Research's annual event takes place this Saturday at Atascadero Lake.

Registration is at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

Every dollar raised goes directly to support lupus research programs.

Lupus is a life-threatening chronic autoimmune disease in which a person's immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissue. It mostly affects people between the ages of 15 to 45.

Currently, there is no known cure.
