A local horse who made national headlines for hoofing it out to sea will be back in the saddle in Santa Barbara this weekend.
Back in May, William the Wonder Horse was spooked during a photo shoot on the beach in Carpinteria. He headed for the waves, and swam three hours and more than a mile before he was rescued by a passing boat. Amazingly, William the Wonder Horse was just fine, and this weekend you can meet him in person.
The white Arabian horse will be showing at the Region II Arabian Horse Show at the Earl Warren Showgrounds Saturday at 6:45p.m. Between afternoon and evening sessions, people are free to wander between stalls and visit the horses, trainers and exhibitors from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. For the annual barn party. Free ice cream will be served. Attendance to the show is also free.
The show is a qualification show for the U.S. National Horse Show. Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo Arabian horses from all over the Southwest will be shown under saddle disciplines including English, Hunter, Western and Working Western.
