Nine Central Coast wrestlers are still alive in CIF Masters Meet at Temecula High. The two-day event opened on Friday and features the top wrestlers in the Southern Section, who will compete by weight class regardless of divisions. The Central Coast sent twenty-three wrestlers, but only eight have chances for top nine finishes, which are required to qualify for next month's CIF State Meet.
Two area wrestlers are already guaranteed spots in the state meet. Righetti High's CIF champion Luke Wilson, the #1 seed at 152 pounds, faces Amir Hassan of Westlake in the championship semifinals on Saturday. Paso Robles senior Kevan Garcia is also in the championship bracket. He faces Anthony Valencia of St. John Bosco in the 145 pound semifinal.
Paso High's Robby Standley (113 Pounds) and Atascadero's Hunter Stemper (182 pounds) are still alive in the consolation brackets. Stuart Malm of Righetti (132pounds), Paso's Colton Madrigal (170 lbs), Jacob Rodas of Santa Maria (170 pounds), Pioneer Valley's Miguel Ruiz (220 pounds) and Righetti High's Dante Gamble (285 pounds) are all still in contention in the consolation brackets after losing one match earlier in the day.
