Wilson into semifinals, Garcia still alive

Luke Wilson won two matches by pinfall and another, 15-0 on points to advance to the semifinals of the State Tournament in the 152 pound weight class. The Righetti senior will wrestle Coleman Hammond on Saturday morning in the semifinals. Hammond is one of two wrestlers to beat Wilson this season. The other is Shayne Tucker from Bella Vista who is wrestling in the other semifinal. The championships of the State Meet being held in Bakersfield will be on Saturday as well. Wilson finished eighth at last years State Meet.

Paso Robles senior Kevan Garcia went 4-1 on Friday and still has a chance to finish third in the 145 pound division. Garcia won his first round match on points, 8-1. He won in the second round by pinfall before dropping a 5-1 decision in the third round. Garcia recovered to win two matches in the consolation bracket. He'll need to win five straight matches on Saturday to finish in third place.

Paso Robles senior Colton Madrigal was eliminated after going 3-2 in the 170 pound weight class. Madrigal was pinned in the first round, he won three straight in the consolation bracket before dropping a 2-1 decision to end his run.

Pioneer Valley junior Miguel Ruiz went 2-2 in the 220 pound division. Ruiz had a bye into the second round but lost in a 4-3 decision. He recovered to win two consolation matches before being eliminated by pinfall.
