Wind advisories and warnings continue

A powerful storm system will bring strong and damaging southerly winds to the mountains of southwestern California today into tonight. Wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph are expected in all mountain areas. High wind warnings are in effect for the mountains of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Wind advisories are in effect for coastal and valley areas of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

For coastal areas the wind advisory remains in effect until 7 pm this evening

Southerly winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph will continue through early this evening. Strongest winds over the higher terrain and near thunderstorms.

Gusty winds will make driving difficult especially for drivers of high profile vehicles across highways 1, 101, and 246.

For the mountains the high wind warning remains in effect until 3 am Saturday

Southerly winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph are expected through early Saturday morning.
