Woman, 30, charged in shooting death of teen

RICHMOND, Calif. (AP) - Prosecutors say a 30-year-old woman who surrendered to authorities in the shooting death of a San Francisco Bay Area teenager has been charged with murder.

The Contra Costa Times reports Melinda Gaffney turned herself in at San Francisco police headquarters Monday morning.

She is being held in Contra Costa County in the killing of 16-year-old Terrance Forks outside a Richmond apartment complex on April 8.

Witnesses tell police she argued with Folks in front of the complex shortly before he was shot. Witnesses say the two knew each other.

Gaffney is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
