A Lompoc woman is accused of stealing more than $300,000 from an elderly Santa Barbara woman.

Police say the investigation began last year, when 60-year-old Norma White was fired from her job at the Samarkand in Santa Barbara.

Police say she lost her job because of accounting irregularities. They say after she left, staff members found evidence that White was cashing checks from the accounts of one of the elderly residents.

White was arrested on April 1 and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for Grand Theft Embezzlement and Elder Abuse.
