Woman arrested with loaded gun in her purse at Santa Maria Court

A 29-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after authorities said she had a loaded gun in her purse at the Santa Maria Court Complex.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office said Nicole Grandy-Smith was going through a screening station for an unrelated hearing when her gun was discovered. At this point,it is unclear if Grandy-Smith was aware she had the gun in her purse, according to Kelly Hoover with the Sheriff's Office.
Grandy-Smith was booked in jail for misdemeanor possession of a concealed firearm.
The case will be reviewed by the Santa Barbara District Attorney's Office to decide whether to file charges.
