The victim of an alleged attacked over the weekend died Friday afternoon. The victim is being identified as Deidre Crowley, 46.

On September 30 the San Luis Obispo Police Department received a 911 call of a female screaming in an apartment complex in the 300 block of Bullock Lane.

When officers arrived, they talked to Edmund Nungaray, 59, who said he had been in a fight with the victim. The victim was found not breathing with no pulse. Due to a quick response by paramedics, a pulse was reestablished and she was taken to a nearby hospital.

Police say Nungaray admitted to choking the victim during the fight.

Nungaray was arrested for attempted murder and booked in the San Luis Obispo County Jail. In light of the recent death, the police department will be consulting with the District Attorney's Office in order to file charges against Nungaray for murder.
