Woman hit by car in San Luis Obispo, suffers serious injuries

A Hawthorne woman is in the hospital, after being hit by a car this morning in San Luis Obispo.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. on California Boulevard, just north of Hathaway.
Madeline Mezger, 19, was crossing California, and stopped in the middle of the road as a car approached.
San Luis Obispo resident Anthony Colicchio, 21, hit Mezger in his Nissan Cube. Officers say she was dressed in black and hard to see.
Mezger suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sierra Vista Hospital. Officers say alcohol did not play a role.
