Woman remains in critical condition after attack Saturday in San Luis Obispo

A 48-year-old San Luis Obispo woman remained in critical condition Monday after police said a neighbor attacked her at an apartment complex late Saturday night.
Police arrested 59-year-old Edmund Leo Nungaray on suspicion of attempted murder after responding to two calls earlier that day about an ongoing dispute between him and the victim who was an acquaintance.
It happened in the 3300 block of Bullock Lane in San Luis Obispo late Saturday night.
A police supervisor told KSBY Nungaray has cooperated with investigators and told them a motive for the incident.
The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office will review the investigation to decide on possible charges.
Police are not releasing the victim's name until they can reach her family.
