SAN DIEGO (AP) - Authorities say the body of a woman has been found floating in the ocean near a San Diego County pier.
San Diego Lifeguard Lt. Andy Lerum says a citizen spotted the body Saturday about 100 yards northwest of the tip of Scripps Pier at La Jolla Shores.
Lerum tells City News Service the woman appeared to have been in her mid-30s.
It was not immediately known how long the body had been in the water, but Lerum said rigor mortis had set in.
The medical examiner's office will try to determine the woman's identity and cause of death.
