RIALTO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a woman's body was found and 60 people were displaced at an apartment fire in San Bernardino County, and police are investigating whether her death was a homicide and the fire set deliberately.
The Rialto Fire Department tells KNBC-TV (http://bit.ly/TnL5uH) that firefighters arrived early Saturday to find heavy fire and smoke coming from a downstairs apartment, and the body of a woman who had been beaten outside.
Rialto police tell the TV station they are investigating whether the woman was killed and her apartment torched to cover up the homicide.
Police tell the Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/PugAVz) the woman was pulled from the burning building before firefighters arrived.
About 40 firefighters put out the blaze in about 20 minutes.
Red Cross volunteers took the displaced to a community center.
