Woman who struck two bicyclists on Highway 1 receives maximum sentence

A judge on Tuesday sentenced Jessica Goddard, 29, to 11 years and 8 months in prison for hitting and killing a bicyclist and injuring another on Highway 1 in Morro Bay on Labor Day.

The Cayucos woman pleaded guilty in September to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs causing injury.

Alan Stephens, 65, of Los Osos, was killed in the crash. Bradley Cummins, 60, also of Los Osos, suffered major injuries.
