A wounded warrior was welcomed home Tuesday night in San Luis Obispo with a special reaction from friends, family and strangers.
Brett Huntzinger, 24, has been serving overseas in northeast Afghanistan since last December. He is an Arroyo Grande native and graduate of Nipomo High School. He is part of the 10 Mountain Infantry Battalion.
Huntzinger was wounded by a rocket propelled grenade, an IED, and gunshot wounds, all at different times. His parents were overwhelmed by the show of support for his homecoming on Tuesday.
"It's the best. It is an answer to our prayers." said Sheone Huntzinger, Brett's mother.
Huntzinger is only home for 30 days. The "Welcome Home Troops" organization started greeting local troops upon arrival in September of last year.
