Kris Yanku dropped a game-high 36 points to lead the Taft Toreadors to a 55-52 win over host Mission Prep on the final day of the Christmas Classic on Saturday.
The Northern Arizona recruit banked in a three pointer from half court at the buzzer to give Taft a 15-13 lead after the first quarter. Andy Rowley promptly knocked down a three-point jumper to give Mission the lead back 16-15 to start the second quarter.
Taft, the three-time defending National Division Bracket champions, led 38-35 to start the fourth quarter. Taft, which had four key players out due to academic probation, finished the tournament 2-2 with wins over Righetti and Mission Prep.
Rowley led the Royals with 19 points. The host Royals finished the tournament 1-3 and are now 6-4 on the season.
