Young boys and girls were reminded about bicycle safety on Saturday during the 2012 Bike Rodeo, which promotes safe bicycling skills to riders ages 4 to 14.

The bike rodeo took place at Emerson Park in San Luis Obispo.

During the event, participants got a chance to decorate their bikes, take a group ride around the park, and even watch a stunt show put on by McCarty BMX.

Organizers say that all types of riders were given an opportunity to learn some skills, including hand signals and rules of the road.

The event was put on by the the San Luis Obispo Police Department, the City of San Luis Obispo, and many other local organizations.
