FAMILY BIRTHING CENTER TOUR: Take a family birthing center tour at French Hospital Medical Center. This tour will familiarize expectant families with the birthing center, and answer any questions. This small group tour takes 30-45 minutes. Call for an appointment (805) 542-6659. Meet in the French Hospital lobby at 1911 Johnson Avenue, San Luis Obispo. Partners, coaches and grandparents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

PRE-REGISTRATION FOR BIRTH: Pre-registration may be done at the Information Desk in the Main Lobby. Hours are Monday-Friday 5:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please bring your identification and insurance cards. This is done on a walk-in basis and is best to complete by your seventh month of pregnancy.

THE BABY HOUR: WEEKLY BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP: Join other nursing mothers and a lactation consultant for this free wReekly breastfeeding support group. Learn about various topics surrounding breastfeeding and parenthood. Mothers and babies are welcome and there is no need to register. Our childbirth classes of four sessions are designed to provide current information, practical tools, and techniques needed to promote a healthy birth experience. Plus, we have a good time! Partners and coaches are encouraged to attend. Please bring a pillow and a blanket/yoga mat each night. Pre-registration is required for all classes. BIG BROTHER/SISTER SIBLING CLASS: Friday, May 17 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm at the Marian Education Conference Room, Third Floor (new hospital). During this fun and informative class for children, big brothers and sisters learn about life at home with a new baby and what to expect when visiting a newborn in the hospital.

The benefits of breastfeeding, positioning baby for a successful latch, and guidelines for knowing that your baby is getting enough breast milk will be discussed. SIBLING CLASS:  Saturday, June 1 from 11 am to 12:30 pm at the French Hospital Auditorium. This one-time class is designed for children ages 3-12 and emphasizes the importance of being a big brother or big sister. It includes hands-on fun with life-size baby dolls, lots of tips, an activity and a short movie on becoming a sibling. We will also take a tour of the Family Birthing Center and hopefully meet a newborn. Parents also attend; bring your cameras! FREE

BABY SAFE INFANT CPR CLASS: Monday, June 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Marian Education Building, Classroom D. An essential course for parents, Baby Safe covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid for choking, and child safety for newborns to infants twelve months of age.
