Hope Hanselman joined the KSBY News team in April 2012 as a Multimedia Journalist.
Before moving to San Luis Obispo to study broadcast journalism at Cal Poly, Hope spent most of her life in Petaluma, California where she lived on a dairy farm, selling cheese to tourists mainly from San Francisco. Although she calls California home, she has also lived in New York and Seattle, as well as San Diego.
While studying at Cal Poly, Hope interned in the KSBY Newsroom and was thrilled when she was offered the opportunity to join the team.
"I couldn't be more grateful for my experience at KSBY. I've had the chance to work closely with each of the anchors, reporters, producers and photographers around the station," she said. "There is so much to learn about the art of telling a story. They have been my best teachers."
Hope continues to be an active member in Cal Poly's Journalism Department, working to create a club for broadcasting students and expand the capabilities of the department. She has spent time volunteering in the Victim/Witness program at the San Luis Obispo District Attorney's Office, working with advocates to provide resources to local victims of crimes. She has also spent years volunteering in tutoring programs for high school students.
On the rare occasion Hope isn't in the newsroom, she is looking for another adventure somewhere on the Central Coast. You can often find her checking off a bucket list of goals. Her latest challenge? Hope is already fluent in French and is now teaching herself Italian and Spanish.
