Award winning journalist Jeanette Trompeter joined the KSBY News team in January 2010 as co-anchor of the news at 5:00, 6:00, 6:30, 10:00 and 11:00 p.m.
Jeanette was born in San Luis Obispo County and received her degree in Broadcast Journalism from Cal Poly. Her first full-time television job was right here at KSBY as a newscast producer and general assignment reporter. She also worked part-time during college at KSBY doing weather on the weekend news.
In 1994 she moved to KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa and quickly became one of the area's leading news anchors and was honored with a national Edward R. Murrow award for overall excellence. She also worked for Better Homes and Gardens during her time in Des Moines hosting their nationally syndicated home and garden show. In 2005, Jeanette moved to Minneapolis to anchor at WCCO-TV. There she was honored with the prestigious Emmy award, two years in a row for best anchor. She also earned Emmys for her reporting, as well as numerous other journalism awards, including an Edward R. Murrow award.
Jeanette is thrilled to be back near her friends and family on the Central Coast. "I've always dreamed of coming home to the station where I got my start. There's no place in the country like the Central Coast and I look forward to bringing my friends, family and neighbors information that makes a real impact in their lives," she said.
In her free time, Jeanette enjoys running, swimming, cycling, kayaking and almost all water sports.
She loves the ocean and hates to miss a sunset along the coast.
