Richard Gearhart is a native of the Central Coast. He begins his busy day early at KSBY where he co-anchors KSBY News Daybreak from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Richard also teaches journalism (in the Agriculture Department) at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.

Richard attended California Polytechnic State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism. He later received his teaching credential at Chapman University.

Richard began his broadcasting career on the radio at KIQO in Atascadero, KPRL in Paso Robles and then KJDJ in San Luis Obispo.

Richard began working at KSBY in July of 1990. He is a familiar, trusted face for KSBY News viewers to wake up to each weekday morning.

Richard is married and enjoys spending time with his two sons: Hayden and Jack.
