Preparing for your exam:
- When you call to make your appointment, please have your Doctor's orders and Insurance card with you.
- If you have an out of town Doctor, please make sure you have their address, phone and fax number so the report will go to them.
- Arrive at the specified time to allow for registration and exam preparation.
- Bring your insurance card and Doctor's order with you to the appointment.
- If this is a Work Comp case, make sure you have all the correct information regarding your case.
- Notify us upon arrival of any special needs or allergies.
- You may take any prescribed medication as usual.
- Wear comfortable clothing.
Please see additional special instructions on the back of your Doctor's order regarding your particular exam.
MRI / MRA
- Avoid metal in clothing and personal items.
- Follow the preparation on your order sheet for the exam you are having.
- Take usual medications as scheduled.
- No eye makeup should be worn for head or orbit examinations.
- If you have a cardiac pacemaker you should not have an MRI. Patients with metallic implants, neuro or bio-stimulating devices, eyeliner tattoo, or cochlear implants must inform the technologist prior to the examination.
- If you are claustrophobic, please inform our staff prior to your arrival so preparations can be made if necessary.
- Please allow at least 30 minutes for the examination. During the examination, you will also need to remain as still as possible. Headphones and your choice of music will be available for you to listen to during your scan.
FLUOROSCOPY (Upper GI, Esophagram, Barium Swallow, Small Bowel , Barium Enema)
- Please follow the diet and preparation kit given by Templeton Imaging or referring physician at the time the appointment is scheduled.
- There is a bowel cleaning kit that need to be picked up at the office for your Barium Enema or IVP exams.
- If you are allergic to any medication or contrast used in an x-ray procedure in the past, please inform the scheduler or technologist before having your exam.
DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY
Please do not use any powders, perfumes, or deodorants on your breasts or under your arms on the day of your appointment. If your appointment is later in the day and you need to wear deodorant; we will provide 'wipes' for you prior to your exam. Just refrain from powders and perfumes please. And let the technologist know.
BONE DENSITY
Weight cannot exceed 350 lbs. Please let the receptionist know if you have had back or hip surgery; or and you must not have had an IVP, BE, UGI (any contrast), Nuclear Medicine Scan or CT scan with contrast within the last 5 days.
ULTRASOUND
Please follow the exam preparation directions on your order. Each exam has very specific directions.
For some exams you need to drink a large amount of water. For some exams you cannot have anything to eat or drink. Please check with your scheduler if you have any specific questions or concerns.
CT EXAMINATIONS
There is a barium drink that you need to pick up from the office prior to your appointment for many CT exams.
You should tell the scheduler if you are on medicine for diabetes.
Some exams require an IV contrast media to be injected into a vein before the procedure. Be sure to notify the scheduler or technologist if you are allergic to anything. They may also ask you about recent lab tests results that we might need because of the contrast that is given to you.
INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY (Shoulder injections prior to MRI, Hip injections or aspirations, Breast biopsies, etc.)
- Are you taking a blood thinner or aspirin? You need to relay this information to the scheduler when making your appointment.
- Allergies to medication or x-ray contrast should be noted as well.
