San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum to celebrate Train Day

Posted: Updated:

The San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum is hosting a Train Day celebration on Saturday, May 9.

It happens from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the museum located at 1940 Santa Barbara Avenue. The event is held to recognize the anniversary of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in America.

"We want to let people know it's sill a great way to travel," said Diane Marchetti, Railroad Museum Manager. "It's so much more comfortable than traveling by car or by plane. If you've never traveled by train, we really want to encourage people to try it."

There will be activities for kids, art, food, and the christening of a 1926 cafe lounge car on display at the museum.
