Volunteers needed for clean-up with Refugio Oil Spill

State officials are now calling on public volunteers to help with the Refugio Oil Spill clean up efforts.

More than 130 volunteers from different organizations have already been helping, and now they are turning to the public.

They are asking for volunteers to help with beach clean-up and various tasks over the next several days.

Volunteers have to be trained, and multiple training sessions are being held this week, some starting as early as Monday.

Currently, the following trainings have been scheduled.  You must be preregistered in order to participate. 

Hazard Safety Communication Training.

Monday:  May 25 at 1 – 5 pm.  100 slots open.

Thursday:  May 28:  8 – 12 noon; 1 – 5 pm.  100 slots open for each session.

Beach Cleanup

Wednesday:  May 27:  1 – 5 pm. 

Saturday:  May 30:  8 – 12 noon and 1 – 5 pm

Sunday:  May 31:  8 – 12 noon and 1 – 5 pm 

You must be at least 18 years old, and in good health.
