Fresno man arrested for San Luis Obispo bicycle shop burglary

Posted: Updated:
San Luis Obispo police officers said they arrested a Fresno man suspected of an early-morning burglary at a downtown bicycle shop.

An alarm sounded just after 4:00 a.m. on Sunday at Cambria Bicycle Outfitters. A California Highway Patrol officer was in the area when the audible alarm went off.

The officer said he saw a white Ford van leaving the store parking lot and attempted to stop the vehicle. Police said the driver did not stop, leading officers on a pursuit until the van crashed at Murray Avenue and Casa Street.

Police identified the driver as Earvwin McCullar of Fresno. The passenger ran on foot. Police did not find him.

In the van, officers said they found six high-end bicycles valued at more than $40,000. They said all of the bikes still had price tags on them from Cambria Bicycle Outfitters.

Police said the van was reported stolen from Woodland, California.

McCullar was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of operating a stolen vehicle, commercial burglary and possession of stolen property.
