Hunger Awareness Day to raise funds for SLO Food Bank

Posted: Updated:

The Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County's 9th Annual Hunger Awareness Day takes place Friday, June 5.

The Food Bank is hoping to raise $125,000 to help feed people in need in the community. Food Bank officials say about 44,000 people in San Luis Obispo County are at risk of going hungry and the majority of them are children and seniors.

"With $1 donated, the Food Bank is able to provide $10 worth of nutritious food to those in need in our county, so $1 really does make a really big impact in our community," said Aracely Aceves Lozano, SLO Food Bank Director of Community Relations.

There will be more than 30 locations across San Luis Obispo County collecting donations on Friday. Click here for a list.
