Local 6th graders promote water conservation

Posted: Updated:

Students at Manzanita Public Charter School at Vandenberg Air Force Base are working on ways to get people to conserve water during the drought.

Sixth graders in Mr. Kaml's class created a Facebook page, Instagram account, put up posters, and designed merchandise that promote water saving tips.

"I would like them to walk away from this project knowing that they can make a difference, that if they identify a problem, they can be part of the solution," said Larry Kaml, 6th grade teacher.

The students are selling water bottles, beanies and hoodies and donating the proceeds to Samaritan's Purse, an international relief organization. The merchandise can be purchased in Mr. Kaml's class, Room 19, at Manzanita Public Charter School.
