Nipomo students learn about marine life during tour of Diablo Canyon

Posted: Updated:

About 100 students from Dana Elementary School in Nipomo got a behind-the-scenes look at Diablo Canyon Power Plant Thursday.

They not only got a tour of the plant, but learned about the marine animals that call the waters off the Central Coast home.

"Today they had an opportunity to come here and actually touch, feel and see the animals and making that connection with the animals and what lives in the ocean, hopefully will bring a very positive experience and love the ocean just as much as we do," said Tara Malzone, executive director of the Central Coast Aquarium.

The aquarium, located in Avila Beach, showed off a variety of animals including a shark, starfish, crabs, clams, and other types of fish.
